Jacqueline Lockley
Transplant Recipient - Organ
September 3, 2023 I went to the ER thinking that I had COVID-19. Blood work was done, and I was told that I had to be admitted because liver enzymes was over 1000 a day. I was also told that I would be transferred to Georgetown med Star in Washington DC on September 6, 2023. I had to have a biopsy on my liver, on September 8 the doctor came in my room and told me that I was in acute liver failure in stages; that I had been put at the top of the list of candidates waiting for a liver transplant because it was so severe. All I could do is pray and ask God to allow me to live. On September 10, 2023 at 2:45 AM, just two days later, the nurse came in and said "Miss LOCKLEY you have a phone call." It was the transplant coordinator and she said "Miss LOCKLEY we have a liver for you. Do you accept?" and I said yes. That evening I was in surgery and received my new liver. I am truly blessed to have my life changed within a few days and I wouldn’t change anything.
