John Ryan Chapman

Donation Supporter

On a windy day on the beach in Ocean City, John Ryan Chapman’s two sisters and niece hold balloons and remember John. The youngest of five children, John was only 24 years old when he passed from a heart condition and was merely a teenager when he was diagnosed. Because of his pre-existing condition, obtaining medical insurance was an issue and his condition went untreated. “John lived a life to the fullest and when doctors told him not to work because of his illness, he worked anyways and loved his job of renting rooms to those who needed a place in Ocean City” says sister Priscilla. In fact, his sisters and niece stayed at his OC condo for the photo shoot, a bittersweet feeling, knowing it’s where John was happiest. A designated organ donor, John was also a passionate Redskins fan and when he passed, his family held a balloon release in his honor at Fed Ex Field. His sisters and family continue his legacy by sharing his story and raising awareness about having regular heart checkups. They also fundraise for The American Heart Association so others won’t have to go through life without the proper medications.
