David’s mom, brother and grandfather can’t help but smile went they recount the stories of David as they climb up the dirt road on his grandfather’s land in Berryville, Virginia. “David loved being outdoors,” comments his mom, Cheryl. The money he earned from countless summer jobs either at the nearby vineyard, local farm or his grandfather’s land, helped David fund his other passion – cars. His mom remembers fondly, “He was always a tinkering. He took almost every toy he ever had apart to make something else; something better. After David’s death in a tragic car accident in 2010, Cheryl knew he would have wanted to help others through donation. “He had a heart on his license ever since he could drive. He knew it was the right thing to do."
